Danger Social Media!

Make sure your business has a clear social media policy in your employee handbook.

Your employees need to understand that the use of social media which impacts the company may result in disciplinary action including dismissal.

Induction training can be used to ensure employees understand the consequences of social media misuse and the potential damage to the reputation of your business.

Any communications that employees make in a professional or personal capacity through social media must not;

  1. Bring the company into disrepute such as criticising or arguing with customers, colleagues or rivals.

  2. Breach confidentiality, such as revealing trade secrets or information owned by the company.

  3. Breach copyright, for example by using someone else’s images or written content without permission.

  4. Do anything that could be considered discriminatory against, or bullying or harassment of, any individual such as making offensive or derogatory comments.

If you would like any further information on a social media policy for your business you should contact Nichola at nichola@coulthardhr.co.uk or ring 07946 541606. www.coulthardhr.com
